I follow the updates RSS feed on OneManga, so I see when they get new series. Usually I'll check out unfamiliar titles just to see what they're about. I've found a few interesting things that way. Recently, these are two that caught my eye.

Drifters - by Hirano Kouta (ie, Hellsing)
Premise: Warriors from various times/places (mostly feudal Japan, at this point) get drawn in to a fantasy-ish world after their deaths, where they are known as Drifters.

Shut Hell - by Itoh Yu
Premise: In the modern day, teenager Sudou keeps having nightmares. He meets a girl named Susuki, and shortly after is transported into the Chinese historical world of his nightmares, where he is the female warrior Shut Hell and Susuki is a young Mongol prince, Yurul. Having sworn vengeance on the Mongol commander who conquered her home country and slaughtered her friends, Shut Hell has abandoned much of her humanity to become the deadliest enemy of the Mongol army. Along the way, she...allies with? Uses? Takes as bait?...Yurul, who is fascinated by the art of writing and is trying to take the written heritage of his mother's people to safety.

Couple of things to read before you post:

1) PLEASE spell out your fandom completely and characters correctly. There's a very good chance I won't know them.

2) PLEASE use proper capitalization and number notation (roman numerals for the most part).

Things that don't conform to the above will make me cranky, and you will likely end up with your prompts ignored.

I will stop taking prompts after I wake up Wednesday November 4th, which is usually 5:30am-ish EDT. Then they'll be sorted and posted by the other co-mod for you to write on.

Richard Taylor! Viggo! Bob Anderson! Swords! I so wanted to like this.

Shame that Reclaiming the Blade does the ponderous narration thing. It's mostly the script, which keeps making portentous statements and generalizations about how The Blade was So Amazing before those Awful Guns. They kept reaching for dramatic tension, instead of just relaxing and letting their passion show. The Netflix version didn't have any special features, but I doubt they'd be worth actually paying much for.

Also, the term "European Martial Arts" does not need to be used every five minutes: we get it, OK?

(Yes, I'm in a rotten mood today, but the documentary really was disappointing.)

If you're thinking of writing adoptive kid fic, you must read viggorlijah's post, Fandom Primer on International Adoption as a story trope: read it and weep. But the stories based on RL issues could be really good.

RPS Kink meme - just getting started. Some of the other kink memes have been amazing and very inspiring...
